WHAT WE DO
To assist client companies in the healthcare industry with internationally-focused, expert, customized, and integrated Intellectual Property (IP) strategies for supporting client business activities across multiple countries.
With experience in conducting countless patentability and freedom to operate opinions, the GAI team of professionals has developed the expertise to analyze the strengths and weakness of pending patents and the ability to create strong patents which make it difficult for competitors to bypass. GAI’s experts also possess the legal qualifications and experience to support all aspects of litigation.
Intellectual Property Law
After an initial evaluation and assessment, GAI conducts extensive research with the client for a thorough understanding of the landscape surrounding a company and business operations. Based on GAI’s IP and healthcare industry expertise, GAI’s team customizes and integrates the client’s IP to its business requirements in both domestic and targeted foreign markets. GAI addresses and protects current innovations, and broadens the scope of the IP as much as possible to reduce the possibility of any unjust violation of IP. In so doing, GAI helps the client minimize risk and increase business opportunities.
GAI has international IP expertise in patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets, as well as experience in patentability, freedom to operate opinions and patent litigation.
GAI’s professional team pays special attention to the unique features and characteristics of clients’ business signs or indicators in order to properly protect their unique characteristics and differentiation from others. GAI is expert at obtaining worldwide trademarks through the Madrid protocol, especially important for businesses interested in operating outside the home market.
Copyright is a set of exclusive rights granted to the author or creator of an original work, including the right to copy, distribute and adapt the work. All uses require permission. In most jurisdictions, copyright does not need to be registered, but marked or stated on the original work. Originally applied to copying of books, today it covers a wide range of works, including maps, sheet music, dramatic works, paintings, photographs, sound recordings, motion pictures and computer programs.
Because copyright registration is not mandatory, some people may disregard the importance of copyright protection. GAI can be counted on to be vigilant in protecting clients’ expression of their ideas.
A trade secret is a formula, practice, process, design, instrument, pattern, or compilation of information, which is not generally known or reasonably ascertainable, by which a business can obtain an economic advantage over competitors or customers. In some jurisdictions, such secrets are referred to as “confidential information,” or “classified information.”
Trade secrets are usually difficult to protect. GAI’s team of experts provides their legal and business expertise to protect trade secrets.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO
GAI is a service company established to support you, our client, in the pursuit of your international dreams and ambitions. By customizing a coherent, seamless, efficient and internationally oriented intellectual property strategy and portfolio, we help to protect the fruits of your creativity, research and development – the new and innovative products and processes that you invent. Our firm is business-oriented; we understand the practical needs of businesses, both for the short term and for the long term. We seek to integrate your business strategy, including design, research and development, regulatory and marketing requirements, with a strong intellectual property strategy, to support your business and products over the entire product life cycle.
More than 80% of our clients sell their products primarily outside of their home market. We understand the challenges involved in such a strategy, and provide international intellectual property support to increase the benefits and reduce the drawbacks of a multi-country operating and sales strategy.
GAI constructs international intellectual property strategies which provide a high return on investment (ROI). We measure ROI, not only with regard to the intellectual property obtained for a given payment, but also with regard to whether the resulting international IP portfolio provides sufficient flexibility and ROI over the life cycle of the product(s) protected.. For example, we verify that the portfolio provides business flexibility to allow your company to exploit both international and domestic opportunities now and in the future. We verify that the portfolio is both strong and readily defensible, given your company's resources and the challenges of judicial and regulatory systems in multiple countries.
GAI seeks to increase your business opportunities based upon your intellectual property portfolio, while assisting you in minimizing the risk of trespassing on the intellectual property of others, in both the international and domestic environments.
